BOARD GOVERNANCE AT BRAVE ACADEMY

At BRAVE Academy, we believe strong governance provides the foundation for educational excellence and long-term sustainability. Our board structure reflects both our commitment to Biblical principles of leadership and our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of organizational oversight. We are blessed to have a board of directors who bring wisdom, experience, and devotion to our mission of classical Christian education.

Our Structure

BRAVE Academy operates as a Colorado Nonprofit Corporation with 501(c)(3) status, established in 2023. Our governance model uniquely combines spiritual oversight with educational excellence and ensures alignment with our foundational Christian values and mission as an Academy.

Board Leadership and Advisory Support

To enhance our governance, we maintain two key leadership bodies:

Board of Directors

The board provides primary oversight and strategic direction for the Academy. These directors, serving as Stewarding Elders, bring both spiritual maturity and leadership expertise to guide our school's mission.

Advisory Council / Interim Academy Board

Our Advisory Council is currently our interim Academy Board that consists of three or more appointed individuals who provide specialized expertise and counsel to support school operations. While they participate in board discussions when invited, their role is advisory in nature, offering valuable insights while final authority rests with the Board of Directors.

Purpose and Mission

Our governance structure supports our core purposes:

          • Glorifying God in all aspects of education
          • Demonstrating God's love within our community
          • Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ
          • Developing a Biblical worldview (paideia) through Classical Christian Education
          • Cultivating the seven Christian virtues in our students

      Board Member Selection

We maintain high standards for board membership, carefully selecting individuals who demonstrate:
            • Deep understanding of classical Christian education
            • Strong personal Christian testimony
            • Solid theological understanding
            • Biblical qualifications for elder leadership as outlined in I Timothy and Titus

The board fills open positions through a thorough internal process of nomination, examination, and appointment to ensure stable, long-term leadership for the Academy.

      Operational Oversight

The board may establish specialized committees to focus on specific areas of school operations, always maintaining ultimate responsibility for the Academy's direction and decisions. Our principal office location and other operational details are managed according to Colorado state requirements and the board's strategic guidance.
